It's nearly April, and that means it's time for another brand-new schedule from Acorn TV – and this month, we finally have good news for those of you who've been waiting on Brokenwood Mysteries news. Below, we take a look at everything coming to Acorn in April 2025.

Murdoch Mysteries continues in April

Murdoch Mysteries, Season 18

At the turn of the century, Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson, Baking All the Way, Casino Jack) solves gruesome murders in Toronto using innovative techniques like fingerprinting, ultraviolet lighting, and trace evidence. This season, he turns down a promotion to Inspector to stay in the field, tackling complex crimes. In the new season, the stationhouse welcomes Albert Choi (Paul Sun-Hyung, The Mandalorian, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim’s Convenience), a respected and good-humored addition to the team.

Episodes will air as follows in April, with 22 in total by the end of the season:

  • April 7th: Episode 9, “When Rubber Meets Road” – Murdoch investigates the suspicious death of a worker leading a strike at a rubber factory
  • April 14th: Episode 10, “The Man Who Sold the World” – In this, the 300th episode of Murdoch Mysteries, Murdoch's reunion with Ogden at an English inn is disrupted when a guest ends up dead.
  • April 21st: Episode 11, “Bombshells” – While in London, Murdoch, Ogden and Susannah are caught in a bomb explosion likely set by a now dead suffragette.
  • April 28th: Episode 12, “The Star of Mandalay” – Murdoch and Watts’ efforts to protect a priceless ruby are thwarted by a determined thief.

Set in a remote Irish coastal town, this crime drama follows Detective Fia Lucey (Lisa Dwan) as she returns to her hometown to investigate the murder of a young woman. As she gets deeper into the case, she uncovers all manner of unsavoury secrets within the tight-knit community, forcing her to confront her own past. Also starring Moe Dunford, Stanley Townsend, Rory Keenan, and Éanna Hardwicke, the series weaves together mystery, family conflict, and the darkness lurking beneath the town’s surface.

Episodes will air as follows:

    • Episode 6 – Fia struggles to find the evidence she needs to bring the case to a close.

Recipes for Love & Murder continues in April

Recipes for Love & Murder, Season 2

A food-loving advice columnist turns amateur sleuth when a reader seeking help is murdered, leading her to investigate while sharing her favorite recipes. In season 2, a fire engulfs the town of Eden, triggering a chain of events that drag our characters into multiple murder investigations.

Episodes will premiere on Mondays as follows:

  • April 7th
    • Episode 7: “Come Home to Roost” – On election day, Maria gets a letter containing a confession to the murders, prompting a town lockdown. Meanwhile, Jackie's life is threatened when an unexpected visitor arrives back in town.
  • April 14th
    • Episode 8: “Always Look After Your Pots” (FINALE) – After a death, Jackie, Marie, and Hattie get together for a celebratory dinner. But when an obscure piece of concrete evidence pops up, they realize the killer is still on the loose and must race against the clock to save another victim.

The Chelsea Detective returns April 7th

The Chelsea Detective, Season 3

Adrian Scarborough (Miranda) returns as DI Max Arnold alongside Vanessa Emme (Dublin Murders) as DS Layla Walsh for another three mysteries set against the posh backdrop of Chelsea. The season 3 Christmas special is already available on Acorn TV (for a total of four episodes in season 3).

Episodes will premiere on Mondays as follows:

  • April 7th
    • Episode 2: “Deadlock” – When a body is uncovered on an allotment, Max and Layla rush to uncover the man’s identity. With Ashley’s facial reconstruction revealing the features of ex-soldier Jerome Singer, the team begins to trace his final days. Their investigation leads from the World’s End estate to a botanical garden, and ultimately to the lavish residence of the U.S. Ambassador (Alex Kingston), where diplomatic protections threaten to block their path. To solve the case, Max and Layla must navigate power, secrecy, and international pressure to expose the truth.
  • April 14th
    • Episode 3: “Myths & Legends” – When antiques dealer Niall Hammond is found dead in his shop, Max and Layla are drawn into a puzzling investigation that leads them from a renowned music society to mudlarks combing the Thames foreshore. The discovery of a rare gold coin worth £1 million points to greed as a possible motive—but as they dig deeper into Niall’s personal life, it becomes clear that family tensions and buried secrets may have played a role. To solve the case, Max and Layla must untangle a web of deception and determine what’s genuine—and what’s not.
  • April 21st
    • Episode 4: “For the Greater Good” – When climate scientist Archie Draper is discovered dead in the boot of a stolen car, Max and Layla are left with more questions than answers—especially since neither the car’s owner nor the teens who took it appear to have any link to him. As they learn Archie was preparing to speak at a major climate change conference at the British Geographical Society, they begin to suspect he may have been silenced. But as unexpected ties and layers of deceit come to light, the investigation builds toward a startling conclusion.

Brokenwood Mysteries

Brokenwood Mysteries, Season 11

In this offbeat New Zealand mystery, DI Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea, The Warrior’s Way) arrives in the quiet town of Brokenwood, bringing along his vintage car, a love for country music, and a complicated romantic history. His no-nonsense assistant, DC Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland, The Almighty Johnsons), is a meticulous investigator — and notably younger than Shepherd’s car. As they dig into local cases, Shepherd soon realizes that Brokenwood’s peaceful facade hides plenty of secrets and intrigue.

Episodes will air in April as follows:

  • April 28th
    • Episode 1 – DI Ffion Lloyd returns home to lead a murder investigation with disturbing echoes to the past.
    • Episode 2 – The hunt is on for a suspect fleeing the town as Ffion continues to raise questions about the past.

Additional episodes will air in May.
